Hi everybody, I've been reading on how to setup my suspension, I understood everything well almost, the only thing is when you put the center shock to 0 preload how much preload do I set it to? Do I leave it at 0?

From my experience, I have an '02 Viper, which had the dual rate center spring, I swapped to a straight rate spring, and after I got my gaps squared away on the transfer rods(60% gap on top/ 40% on bottom), what a big difference. I had it set like that w/ the dual rate, but it would "hit" hard on the bumps in the front of the skid. With the straight rate, it seems to absorb them a lot better, almost making it fun to ride them w/ a Proaction-no action.
So as far as preload, you have to experiment w/ the spring tension to achieve the 60/40 split on the rods WITH your ride weight on the sled.

center shock gets set @ 0 preload.
the problem is not the progressive rate spring on the viper or sxr...it's the valving. had bruce @ pioneer revalve my sxr & viper shocks. big difference in ride comfort.

Which "Straight Rate" spring did you get? Yamaha doesnt clarify between springs. Just a "K" value and a part number
