.............................ls there any way to find out what the rivits weigh in a clutch?
My 1993 Vmax4 with 89A -10 both rivits in the weights have "stock" look, machined/pressed vs peened. l need to know to bring down my rpm by 900rpm (fitted 800 cdi)
thanks all

changing the rivets alone, i don't think will bring you down 900rpm. you'll probably need to change out the primary spring to one w/a lesser finish force.
Thanks Moparmopar1rules said:changing the rivets alone, i don't think will bring you down 900rpm. you'll probably need to change out the primary spring to one w/a lesser finish force.
Curent spring has pre load 45 - spring rate 2.25 - total force 120
Is finish force the same as total force?
What finish force should i aim for, i would rather change spring than rivits!
Thanks

YOU DON,T NEED DROP 900 RPM BECAUSE YOUR USEING A 800 CDI. WHAT ELSE IS DONE HERE TO YOUR SLED. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Sled has: Benders, boyseens, dial a jet, airbox shelf delete/opened airbox tops, raised port timing, heads tweaked, ports/mainifolds profiled, 800cdi, welded balanced cranks, i think thats it. Tuned good.
Sled is peaking at 9000-9100rpm ........................maybe 900rpm to much?
Thanks

I think you'll want to get down to around 8350. If I was you, I would change the 89a10 weights, in favor of the '95-'96 vmax4 weight, which is the 8bu-00 weight.

Yessir, no idea what kind though, they go into a a pair of dual stingers.
Has a plate with Bender racing accross it.

1t was pissing down with rain yesterday so i tried a white pink white spring out of the 800cc before swapping the weights aound, it brought the rpms down to around 8500. Sled felt much better, i did a couple of runs with the heavier spring and then the WPW, with the lighter spring the power seemed to tranfer to the snow much better, less track spin skis up a little more/easier with no suspention ajustment.
The WPW is around 17kg less finish force than the spring i was using so ive ordered a blue pink blue which has around 6kgs less still, got some shims coming aswell. When everything arrives i shall spend a day on it in the mountains, play around with some mixes.
ls there a downside to bringing rpms down with springs vs weights/rivits?
Thanks

Bender quads were made to run at run at 9000-9100 rpm

No spec sheet, there is a dynotech shootout here. http://www.vmax4.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?7361-1993-DynoTech-Pipe-Shootout&highlight=dynotech
