Does anyone know if you can mate the bigger SX-R or SRX gauges onto a 98 SX. These baby gauges are killing me!!!!!

i want to say, yes you can, because i know that people have done dual headlight conversions, and the dual headlight models only had big guages....
do a search, could be really helpful!

Anyone have two of these sleds to see if the gauge plugs are the same? I dont want to hunt down and buy some if they wont work and i cant find any info.

I am doing the same. Different plugs. I cut and spliced the wires. They had all like colors except the tach. Unfortunately the tach doesn't work yet. I don't know if I need that big black capasitor or not but I kept it. Is that what is holding me up?

I'm thinkin' about doing the same thing, but over the summer. I do hate those little gauges.
I did something similar to my sx, took a 00' dual headlight/gauge pod "bigger gauges". i used the 00' wiring harness and it everything worked BUT the lights were dimmer than before..still working the bugs out, improved look but not visibility at night. there is a picture of my sled on the <better headlight thread>
I did this to my 97. Gauge pod and gauges from a 99 mountain max. That way I didn't have to mess with the single vs dual bulb issue. Easy cut and splice of the wires. From what I understand the tach from the sleds with the better ignition won't work on the old sleds and vice versa. Apparently they get their signal in different ways.
twins, tripples and newer ignition are all different tachs.
They can be wired to work but the plug is different.
why not change it all out, find someone who has junked a 2001 and up sx or venture/vmax, go dual bulb, dual heat control and then wire in a rx1 or viper gauge.
way better setup, alot more work. Wow factor is definately better.
