Putting together recoil

I am putting together my recoil on a 97 600sx and was wondering if there are any tips or pics to find anywhere on doig the job. I don't know if the spring needs to be preloaded or how it all gets done. I have pics of the order of parts but thats all. I can't figure out how to get the correct amount of rope to the handle and have the right amount of tension on it as well. any help is greatly appreciated. also are there any shop manuals online to download for this sled anywhere???
