Cleaning Carb. My Viper runs Bad. Idle hang, bog. I know the pilot jet must be clean (see light through) I tried to insert a small wire through, but will go only half way, even tried a small needle but wont go all the way through.
I did use some force, won't go through? Could the pilot jet be plug that bad?

Thanks!

NO i dont believe so, take some speaker wire and only use a couple strands so that its small enough to slide through. I usually start with more wires and remoove one at a time untill the wire slides all the way through the hole. Ohh, and btw, Thats What She Said!lol!

I'd just replace it if it is that bad. Otherwise let it soak in a shot glass full of Carb cleaner.

Do this first ^^^^, then a bread twistie wire seems to work great to loosen out any leftover crud. Just dont ream too hard and change the size of the jet, be carefull these are soft brass. Chris

Soaking it should do the trick but in the future, try using a can of compressed air for cleaning electronics. I spray it with carb cleaner and then blow it out with the compressed air. Works every time for me.

Should be clean then

triple pilots have very small holes takes a tiny wire but for me i never use anything in their cus it could compromise the hole size. Carb cleaner and 150psi of shop air.

X2 (although I have mine turned down to 100 psi) but more importantly blasted from the opposite direction of flow. If the smutz is big enough to clog the orifice, sometimes it too big to be blown through if it's of a real hard material (i.e. sand, metal shavings).

Also make sure the passage the jet delivers fuel to is clean. You should be able to see light through it as well... not direct light but I run my finger over the outlet in the carb bore and look for changes in the light.

On real bad carbs I soak in STA-BIL. Yeah carb cleaner is faster but sta-bil doesnt burn my hands.
