I am interested in switching to Amsoil. What do I have to do, drain all Yamalube out and then just pour in the Amsoil? Are there any changes needed? Can I then use any synthetic if I am out on the trail and need oil and Amsoil is not available? - YaMon

I didnt even drain out the old , just ran it low as possible then added the amsoil , but i didnt see a huge diffrence in the power valves with the amsoil and will be returning to yamilube , like you said when you need oil on the trail 95% of gas stations carry yamilube

oils mix very well these days so run your oil till your light comes on or as low as posible without running empty and add the Amsoil and yes if your in a situation where you need oil you can add other oil it will mix.For the valve gumming your going to get that with whatever you use just that some gum up more them others with a good synthetic oil your looking at the better protection and perhaps longer life out of your motor.Yes synthetic oils cost more but how much do you really use anyway
