i have a 1998 srx 70 mountain. it has an engine out of a 2001 srx with the d.c.s system in it. i was riding it today my friend with a 600 polairs lined up with me. i hit it the ligt blinked one time and bye bye. now it is locked up. i was wondering what size jets i should have in it. the guy i got if from said that the mountain jets were in it. when i changed them out the ones i put in had smaller numbers on them. im new the the jetting stuff. i think that i needed fatter jets because the air box is gutted and it is piped. any help would be great.
other then you putting the smaller jets in (leaner) it doesnt make sense. The 02 SRX is the only year that had the DCS. Has to be something else because a sled with DCS does not easily blow up from running lean jetting.
You said you locked it up? You might have other issues.

when i let off the sled would iddle but no power then i shut it off and there it sat. i could pull it over at that time. when we loaded it up on the trailer i went to se if i could pull it over and i broke the recoil rope.
In order to help you we will need way more info:
-does it still have the DCS sensor on the water rail and does the system still function?
-is it ported?
-are the heads stock?
-does it have a cold air kit?
-what brand of pipes are on it?
-what altitude and temp do you ride at?
-once you take it apart post pics of damage.
These sleds that have been assembled with different year engines ect are not always what people think...are you sure it actually has DCS?

i will get all that imfo you you. what i do know is it is not ported it has a cold air intake. the dcs system all i know is that when it starts that light and the temp light flash 4 times. the heads are stock with stock pipes. i i ride in wisconsin and yeaterday it was around 20 out side temp.

the dcs is in the water rail. i took the spark plugs out the clutch side and middle are not wet they are kind of white and i think that is bad. the other side is black and full of crap. i think that is the side that went out. i have to dig in it deeper but i cant for a week. my shed is getting tin put up inside and wont be dne for a week starting wednesday.

nothing no one has an idea.
We are all waiting for more info pics ect...but here's some probable causes.
1]The SRXs with DCS come jetted pretty well as lean as you want to jet them for normal altitudes and temps. Add a cold air kit and Mountain jetting would be much leaner so riding at flat land altitudes combined with the cold temps lately would make this sled run very lean...the DCS should look after full throttle lean jetting but it is not infallible and probably would have less protection at part throttle.
Most people jet the 2002 SRXs to 2001 SRX specs, you can find those in the tech section. Pilots , needles, and mains need to be checked
2]dirty carbs combined with # 1 = $@#%!!
3]crappy old + or low octane fuel with #1 + #2 = $@#%!!!

srx700mt, i feel your pain. i lost a center rod bearing on my srx yesterday, due to the shitty ethanol in this fuel now a days. the ethanol is just washing the oil off my bearings. gonna have to find something nice and sticky to use now, that can withstand this ethanol solvent.
sled was running great all day, then 20 miles after i just filled up w/93 and 10% ethanol @ a BP station, it bogged when i got on the throttle and sounded like a plug was fouled. i said shit to myself and hit the killswitch. pulled the plugs and the center had metal on it. the 2 outer cyl's were chocolate brown.

GLAD TO KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOT THOSE ROD BEARING

I don't want to start the great oil debate again...but in everything I use Klotz techniplate in the crank case always seems to have lots of residual oil in it and I never had a crank failure in 20 years...trouble is on my SRX it seemed to cause more deposits on my power valves so I am now not using it in my SRX...easier to clean power valves then change crank bearings!
Also...one of my riding buddies had a couple crank failures in his "con" Fusion 900 until the last crank supplier told him he would only warranty it if he used conventional oil.
Things that make me go HMMMM

1 or 2 things happened. 1 busted the piston so the rod can move by it self or 2 busted the rod. i am takeing it to hauck performance so they can deal with it.

went to hauck today and got the bad news. the rod bearing went and got so sloppy that it hit the case and cracked it. the crank is junk and the cases are junk. rich at hauck told me that if they can fix the case and have other used parts it will be around 2000 if they can not and i got to get all new im looking at around 4000. i never have any luck with any snowmobile that i get.
