I am about to attempt to take the primary clutch off for cleaning. The manual shows the clutch removal tool, and another called a primary sheave holder. What does this holder do? Do I need one to unbolt the clutch, clean it, and put it back on?

the correct answer is yes. it holds the clutch so the engine doesn't turn over while you tighten the clutch puller. but plenty of people wedge things in the clutch to hold back on while tightening the puller

clutch holder is worth it..especially for me as I take clutches off like 1000 times per season...lol...
I don't like to stick stuff thru the clutch myself..doesn't seem political correct....
