Check your electrical connections. Any signs of the rub through on the harness under the motor?

Are you talking about the headlight?
There was an issue I know I had on my first SRX where it got so cold out that the lights would not work for a few minutes due to something with eith the smoothing coil or condenser geting moisture in it and then freezing. Its a common problem when exposed to extreme cold. Nothing would come on in this condition if this is what is wrong.

Although, I would not rule out the rub through in the wiring under the motor if your electril is doing crazy things.

look above the left footwell. There are 2 relays. One is white and one is black (if I remember correctly) and they are approx 1.5 inches in size. One of those is the relay for the lights. The 01 and 02 have direct current ignition, and is set up to send all power to the motor when starting. So the relay only allows power to the lights after 700 rpm. The relay can get condensation in it and when that happens, the lights don't come on until the condensation is gone. That's why on cold days, it takes a while for it to work. You can disconnect it and warm it up, but normally the lights come on after a few minutes of running (as you have noticed).

thanks guys I checked all wires and see no wear or broken connections. and the wire at relay are connected and also did do the headlight recall and the replaced that relay to add a longer delay on start so it doesn't stall the engine i start up. (if I recall that being the reason) so far it hasn't happened again just concerned heading north on a trip this week end and don't want any problems. thanks for all your help and suggestions guys.

I had the same problem with mine, its more than likely you got moisture or water in the connection by the hood hinges!!! Its the white connection where it plugs in and goes to the headlights etc. The speedo cable is zip tied to it, so follow that to where your hood hinges are and next time just wiggle it when the lights are off and i bet they will come on!!!! p.s buy the moisture electrical spray stuff and clean em up!Simply Insane said:thanks guys I checked all wires and see no wear or broken connections. and the wire at relay are connected and also did do the headlight recall and the replaced that relay to add a longer delay on start so it doesn't stall the engine i start up.
