Stupid question of the week....my Jacket is filty black after a long ride. Noticed this last week, so I assumed I was just a pig. Put a new Jacket on Sunday and the front is already dirty (black streak across the front). Belt materials, carb blowback? Just put 500 miles on it over the past weekend...
Thanks...Ed

Yeah the pull start rope got a yellow shirt of mine totally grease-stained. Don't let it go across your chest when you pull it.

Are you a lefty? I used to get my multi-colored XCR leather all dirty the same way with the pull rope when pulling the rope while standing. Stand about a foot or more from the running board so the rope doesn't come across your chest/shoulder when tugging.

Man...that was easy. I start with my left so I can put a little throttle with my right. Can the rope be cleaned with anything?

I wouldnt think you would want to clean the rope as the oils may help keep it from dry rotting.

I sit on mine and pull with my right, no problems... Unless its below zero and pulling over like a SOB, then I stand a little farther to the rear of the sled and give'rer both hands towards me.
I have jacked up a few coats through...

I solved it by getting a black coat! Brake dust on the rope is a pain. I've thought about running the rope inside a fuel line to keep the dust off of it. For this to work, you'd have to replace your rope with a new one and see if it keeps clean.

I don't seem to have that problem...LOL...maybe its my coat!
