I put a set of these in an SRX,the new ones with the pivoting shoulder, used the stock secondary setup with red spring in primary.I can not get the engagement down below 5000,I have even went as far as to load them with 5 grams in heel and 5 in the other 2 holes.thing sounds like a dirt bike its up so high in rpms before engagement. We dont have enough snow to try it out on a long haul but some thing is not right.we cleaned the clutches before installing to.I have put the max weight in each hole that is allowed in instructions.1 screw with 2 washers in each hole.the paper work that comes with them says to put 5 grams in the heel and 5 grams in the tip and you should end up with 4300 for engagement for this sled.Any suggestions?thanks-Harvey

sounds like you forgot a spring shim in the cover or bottom of clutch pocket. If you shim the h/c spring they will do this. Weights could be over tightened in the clutch, causing them to bind. If this is not the case, take the spring out and place it in the vice compressed overnight, this will take some of the tension out of it. Just some ideas to check

h/c springs

the red is a 230-360 spring, the grey is a 230-330, the engagemnet will be the same, the grey will upshift faster and give LESS backshift then the red, so changing to the grey will not lower your engagement.

Harvey,
I'm curious as to which one of the two Yamaha sets you're using, the 40/10 or 40/20? I'm wondering if you have the 40/10 version and it's not quite heavy enough at engagement even if you've loaded up the heel?

40-10s,thats the ones it says to use in the SRX,I will know better when I can run it down the lake and see how it acts in mid range and top end.thanks-Harvey

You'll have to keep us posted on how these are working out for you. I picked up the same 40-10's to try out in my stock '02 SRX and my 780 Viper. I'm still a couple of weeks away from being able to do any testing. You probably know this already, but using smaller diameter rollers will also bring down your engagement speed a little bit.

I'll let you know how I make out using these weights when I have a chance to get out. I might try some other springs besides the HC springs.
