So I got the sled tuned up for the year, carbs cleaned and the sled was gone over, everything looks good. The sleds starts great but it has a bog till around 4000-5000rpm and then picks right up and runs nice. Will cruise nicely around 80-100kms with no issues. So I have been adjusting the air screw on the top of the carb and it seems to be helping. Now when I give it throttle off the start it is more responsive but still won't quite get the sled going like it had before. I see on the belt cover the stock setting for the air screw is 1.5 turns. I think I am around 2 turns or maybe an 1/8th more. Where I am at isn't much above sea level but when I took it into the mountains it did get worse the higher up we got. Anyways, I'm mainly wondering how far out is safe to turn the air screw and if this is the right direction I should be going to get the low rpm bog fixed. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar issue with my 93 exciter. I ended up rebuilding the secondary clutch to fix the problem. I messed with the carbs for weeks before finding worn slides inside the secondary.

take ur primary clutch off, take it apart and clean it. some people say put them back on the shaft dry, i say lightly oil it. night and day difference between a clean and dirty clutch

It could be caused by a worn drive belt. The adjusting screws (it is a fuel screw) can be turned out further and still be safe - that is making the adjustment richer.

If the sled ran fine before the tune-up and it was done at a shop - take it back and tell them about the problem.

Well I kinda did some calling and I realized its a fuel screw not air...my bad... Long story short, I turned it back to stock and its working a lot better now. Idles much nicer and is much more responsive. I'll probably just take it back to the mechanic sometime but its running nice enough now so I'm not too worried about it. Probably could be leaned out a tiny bit more to make it more responsive but its pretty good now. Had it out in almost a foot of fresh powder and its some fun to drive. The 1" track sure makes it alot better in the powder than my vmax.
