Just bought a set of bar ends, is it as simple as cutting the end out of the heated grip and pushing the bar end in and tightening it up?

No dont cut the end off.You will short out your heating element.Just drill a larger hole in the end of grip.Should be 1/2" from what i remember.Same size as bar end or slightly smaller.

Definitely don't just cut the end off, I tried to follow instructions similar to what richierich said (I forget exactly what they were) and still ruined the grips.
Good luck.
Good luck.
a step bit works great for this application. simply drill into the hole on the end of the grip until the bit hits the metal of the bar ends, clean the excess grip rubber with a knife or dremel and install the ends.
one issue i have run across on the several sets i have installed is the larger diameter of the ends vs the inside diameter of the bars. some sanding on the bar ends may be needed for fitment.

Yep i use a step drill aka unibit and if you have a air drill it does work better.
