Any idea as to why belts would be de-laminating the outer layer off? Belt is not breaking, or shredding, just the top layer is coming off.

i would check your clutch alignment, engine mounts, jackshaft brg and the condition of both clutches.if its peeling the top off its likely an alignment problem.

GETTING HOT. 3:16 (yammie tony)
That's what I thought as well, getting hot. It happened to him yesterday after the "BIG" storm. Snow is very light, fluffy, an deep in spots. It happened to 2 belts within 1/2 of each other, he said.He probably got snow in under the hood, belts started slipping, and got hot. I'll check everything else over however, just to be sure

propably needs to block off the vents on the clutch side when he is in the fluff.

This happened to me yesterday on the Vmax4...several miles after riding in some pretty decent powder, I heard a noise that sounded like a rock hit my clutch guard. I knew that wasn't normal so I investigated and found a 2" piece off the outside of the belt. Mine must have heated up as well....sucks, those belts are 100 bones!

Yeah, those Vmax4 belts are expensive!!! Fortunately I am only on my third belt in 10,000 miles.
Well, the sled is here. Needs a primary rebuild. Pins and bushings are worn so bad, that one of the rollers has a big flat spot in it.

It's easy to burn through belts that exact way when riding off trail. Sometimes I just wonder why I love doing it so much.........
