I have a 2001 sxr 700 and thanks to my idiot buddy who ran into the side of me! now has a big dent in the left trailing arm back in front of the rear mounting bolt. The arm is not bent out of straightness it just has a 3 inch dent in the side. There is no ride quality issue, but I am wondering if this is safe to ride. I do not jump or anything like that but trail ride somewhat fast.

any opinion would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks,
I tried to post picks however the reply says file to large. I bought a used one for 100.00 now I just need to sand blast, paint and put sticker on it. Should be about 160 total. I sure could have used that toward my new Boss seat.

you bought a used one for a hundred bucks and have to paint it and put on a sticker? i can buy a new one from royal distributing for 95 bucks and thats in canada. Am i missing something here ?

If the threaded sleeve (where the main bolt goes in) is not bent or oval shaped you should be fine. If it is damaged replace it.

Here are my pictures. Do you think this is safe for the rest of the winter?

Yes the aftermarkets are made from thin gauge steel and fold up if you evenlook at a bump in the trail, lol. Used oem arms will last the longest or PERFORMANCE aftermarket not aftermarket oem replacement.

it is a good idea to replace the dented one. they are designed to fold on impact to prevent further extensive damage.
