After looking over the stator area on the SRX, I noticed that none of the 3 types of fly-wheel / pulley pullers I own will even fit in the tight space around/underneath the stator cover to pull it off. Is there a "special" Yamaha puller that is needed or, is there a puller I don't own I can go purchase at the automotive store to pull this thing off. The guy does not have the service manual for this machine so I am flying blind on this removal. TIA, Doug

a steering wheel puller should do the trick.

OK, I just googled them and I have one of these also. I guess I would be removing the 3 allen bolts that hold the pull start catch in place and use them holes for the puller. I really wish this guy had the service manual for this thing. Thanks, Doug

Take note how thick the flywheel is. You don't want to thread in a bolt too far that you hit the stator. Thread it in just past the thickness of the flywheel.
A cheap harmonic puller works the best for me. A little stronger built than a steering wheel puller.
