O.K. my sled is in need of a track next year, and while i have the underside out, im going to do the rail extentions from tracks usa or hartman to make it a 136. now as for the track, I want longevity and durability, that is why i am looking at the camoplast durasport 1187 or 1000, they are full block designs and are very tough. I dont much care about speed in the sled, it goes just fine for me, so the added weight of them isnt an issue. my second choice for a track was a camoplast energy, it looks like it would sling snow good. i am NOT going to stud either. gimme your opinions on these tracks please, thanks!!!

the first tracks is a durasport 1187, the second one a durasport 1000, and the third is an energy 1.00

Just thought I would mention my experience with the energy. My buddy and I do about 2500 miles a year. Most of our riding is on well-groomed trails. This is his third season with the enery, and it is not going to make it another season. He has about 120 studs down the middle for safety/braking on the occasional icy corners. He is very careful and does not just rip (spin) the track over at high speeds. However, he is missing large chunks of rubber especially on the outer paddles. It hooks up well on the trails, but is not very rugged. Just my two cents.

stein700sx, we do a little bit of everything around here, and theres lots of road crossings, thats why i was leaning toward the 1187 since it has a full block design and appears to be built to last, and the lug height is nice because of the occasional deep stuff we go through. jsutton83, nice to know about the energy, thanks for the input.

I have a 136" ripsaw with 7000+ hard miles on it and it is still in very good condition and hooks up good on a wide variety of snow surfaces. Those are all poor performing older track designs imo the biggest thing in track longevity is controlling track spin especially if there is something hard your going to be contacting in or under the snow. Most all of the premium performance tracks have a staggered lug pattern and not straight bar lugs.

For loose snow (not tooo deep) and hard pack trail the Ripsaw would be a good option. A Predator track would be better in the deeper snow and is a much harder rubber compound than a Ripsaw. A riding buddy of mine had a Predator on his Apex. He drives hard and that track went over 5000 miles before the clips started to come off. The rubber is still good and had no studs tear out.

I've read good things about the ripsaw tracks, and I do like them. I think what it comes down to is the price i get on a track with my extension package. it may be a 1" or it may end up being a 1.25 although that is cutting it close on my sled with front heat exchanger protectors.

i have a ripsaw a little disappointing on the torn lugs. never tore a lug in my life with the predators.

swede-I never even thought about that, that went right over my head ha! good call! midwestoffroad, i have heard mixed reviews about the ripsaw, ive heard people say just what you said, and then people who love their ripsaw.

Ripsaw is not a good track for higher hp sleds. My buddy with his Apex tore his in the first 500 miles. A Predator is on my hit list when it comes to changing out my track.

I have had both Predator & Ripsaw tracks, I currently have a Ripsaw on and miss the Predator. Next year, if I don't increase the my skid to a 144" I'll buy another Predator. I think the Ripsaw even though it is a 136" is worse than my 121" Predator was. I put 2 full seasons on that Predator and it still looked like brand new. I wish they made a 144" Predator.

I can tell you this.. I really love my track. Even without studs it is great. I'd go with what everyone else is recommending. Not one of those 3 choices. Look into a Predator.

Wish I had a picture of it. I think if I were going to do it again I'd go 1.25" but so far I really enjoy the predator. Only got stuck once with it and that was 2 weeks ago. Wasn't the tracks fault though. The snow was light and fluffy and was just pushed out of the way uncovering a layer of ice over a tree that was fallen while we were breaking trail.

what about the cobra

i too have witnessed a ripped outside lugs on a 670 ripsaw.

any words on the cobra.. have serious interest in hartman 136 kit too. is the money for the extention worth it and noticible at first ride?? that cobra 1.3 track had a good review somewhere i read??

Snotwister...you will notice a better ride on choppy trails and way better in the deeper snow with a 136".Cobras work great in the powder and are find on trails if they arent icy.Otherwise my choice would be a 1.25" ripsaw or even better a Ice Ripper XT .

just ordered the hart 136 kit and partially clipped 1.25 ripsaw. unstudded.

The drivers are stock at 5000 miles.( i was good to the track its whole life, for i didnt spin, or beat it in hopes to save my gear.)

Should i have bought the fully clipped 1.25?

Should I have bought new oem drivers?

really dont think i need no slip units or do i. (sled is stock gear... stock stock stock) and very well maintained.

dont want to do all this work and find i should buy new drivers and should have bought a fully clipped track

I just took mine for a ride the other day for the first time after the hartman installation. I replaced all of the bearings and some of the wheels. Im running a 136 ripsaw 1.25 clipped every 3rd window. got my track super cheap, it was an arctic cat track with the quiet pads on it. dealer going out of business or something. it ran absolutely amazing. rides like a dream compared to a 121. I have the stock drivers on mine I modded my rear heat exchanger making the inlet / outled paralell with the mounting surface and mounted it in the middle of my extension. it was a tight fit and i had to "force" it in there, but im glad i did. temp ran fine. around here in illinois we dont have that much powder and the crossover tube that was supplied wouldnt have provided ample cooling. also, you may way to re-gear to compensate for the extra weight of the track you have. that was one of the reccomendations from people on here when I stated that i was going to stretch mine. Make sure you replace the speedo bearing while your in there. its cheap enough and you are already in there that far, so spend the extra couple bucks and do that.
