Hello,
Anybody know how to rebuild a VMax 500 oil pump?
Mine delivers 3 X the oil it should. Cable is adjusted to minimum flow.
Don't really want to spend $180 for a new one!
Also, can I let it run dry and use premix gas/oil?
Thanks for any input.

I dont think those things are even rebuildable, if they are, I dont know of anybody who rebuilds them.

I would just look on here or Ebay and pick up a used one. When I had a 97 venture a few years ago, I bought a used one from the local snowmobile junker for 20 bucks. Worked great.

No rebuild look for a good used one from a '98 and up,do make sure it's from a 500cc engine as they had different flow specs from one to the other.

good luck

Thank you very much for the help.

Sorry to steal your thread , but what in the pump fails to allow them to go wide full open?
I can't believe that not one single gear head here has never taken one apart.

I agree with you. I'll be taking mine apart this summer.
