Looking at putting new skid in Viper what is about the best to save my back? Good tranfer and not loose much top end?

Thank you

I would find a complete skid from a Polaris. They ride preety nice. Some Where in the early 2000's era from like a PRO-X. Just be ready to drill new holes.

Sell your pro-action when complete

Looking at like a new M-10 or Expert x? What u guys think?

Thank you

I have a line on a 136 edge. I dunno if its worth the bother, or do a extension on my noaction? What you guys think? Buddy only wants $200 for the edge suspension.

The Expert X is nice, good in the bumps, weight transfers better than stock skid but I don't think it corners as flat as stock. A friend had one in his Viper a while back.

I have thought of this same question. I hate the idea of having to put a Cat or Polaris skid in my Yamaha. I'd rather have a neutral mfg. skid in it.

These guys know about skids, however, if you want to save your back get a BOSS seat. It takes about 30 min to install and makes your sled sit more upright. It completely changed the ride and took away my backache. Just throwing it out as an option.

Worth it,,, do it, sell the no-action for $125.00, and save $12,000 in medical bills......

I'd actually like to find some feedback on SRX/Viper/SX-R owners who have tried retro-fitting the RA mono skid into one of these sleds.

I love my Expert X but it is expensive to buy new. It doesn't corner as flat as a stock SRX or Viper, but no other slled does, especially when you raise it. That deal on the Polaris skid seems good but not if you weren't planning to replace the track.

m10 all the way! speed loss yes but depending on what type of riding you do you wont notice it on the trails. Youll notice the far better ride tho!

The RA Mono is a great fit for the Viper. It makes the Viper ride very well over the rough stuff. The Edge skids, M-10, Expert-X, SC10-III, ZX2 all have a much improved ride over the ProAction.

Anybody who says the ProAction is junk needs to take a ride on a bogie wheel sled. In it's day the ProAction was a very good skid. 2000 and later was not it's day, and the Proaction Plus really needed a newer design. Thus these newer skids are much better than any of the ProAction skids.

Is it alot of work to retro fit one? I have been thinking about doing this and putting Ohlins up front.

If you are talking about the RA Mono skid, it is really a fairly easy install. There are a couple posts on here (maybe in the tech pages) about doing this. Basically, measure carefully and install the brackets and cut the RA hole. Then rivet and bolt it all up. Depending on how you want the sled setup, you may want to raise or lower the mount points.

Good info already posted, do a search.
