Finallygot the 79 300 Enticer running like it should. I loaded it in the bed of the ol' Dodge today and took it a couple miles down the road to a friend's 10 acres, and the kid rode the snot out of it; it seemed to run better the longer he rode it; he had fun while I worked, having to use a tractor and bucket to un-bury a horse trailer)
The sled don't start "bad" with the rope start; a few more pulls than I like when cold but 1st pull when warm. But I didn't yank the elec start harness and battery tray from the old 340 and install it on this sled, for "nothing";
I certainly want to put a battery in this thing. but as winter is winding down and realistically there's maybe a month of sled season left around here, what I Don't want to do, is to put a battery in for the warranty to fizzle out while the sled sits in warm weather; so I am thinking of waiting to put a battery in til next winter; (after all the headache to gete this thing going it will certainly be summerized the right way; I don't wanna repeat this headache next winter) or til he breaks something on it.
so; will it hurt anything for there to not be a battery in the system (other than having to pull start it) ?
and; would you buy a battery now, or wait till next Fall, for next winter?
I anticipate this sled being used almost daily for the couple hours of daylight the kid has between getting off the bus and darkness, til the snow pack melts away....

so nobody knows what damage can be done to a stator etc, running battery-less?

None. And I'd wait too.
