Well I have to thank Richard(yamahead) for the the fine work he does for us guys.Just got my PV's in the mail and they look AWESOME!!!Good delivery time and packing..... ;)! Now the valves will last a lot longer with no worries of a pull thru...If anyone has a PV that is pulling trhu..send it to Rich to fix up for you and get the coating done also.I have 3 more valves to send down to him later and want a copule more on top of those. Then I will have 3 complete sets to switch on the fly so that I won't have to clean them in the riding season..just switch and ride.....thanks alot...

Switch & Ride!!!

"Switch & Ride" LOL! You'r powervalves get so dirty you have to switch them mid season??? What are you running for injection oil? Crude oil???

Madmatt

my valves don't get that dirty.I clean them around 1000 miles.I use Amsoil also.Just will be able to switch them out less then 1000 miles with 3 sets going and not worry about cleaning until summer comes.

Those valves look alot prettier than mine. I have 3 big goopy messes. When adjusting powervalves I am supposed to set idle at 900 rpm. Does it have to be 900 or just less than 1000? I cant seem to get it right at 900, probably have it about 700...? Thanks

900 or less is fine. Watch the servo motor when you hit the choke.
Umm, I got my idle down by first adjusting the idle screw, then by loosening the slack adjuster on the cable. What am I supposed watching for on the server motor and why do I hit the choke? Powervalve noob here, thanks.

Best way to get RPMS under 900 is by using the choke then you don't have to adjust idle speed again. You are watching for the server mototr to turn counter clockwise to open up the PV's.

I do. Let them soak in it for awile before scrubbing them down. Then use a pencil with an eraser to clean the slots where they slide up and down.

going a little off topic here..but for what it's worth I find cleaning valves is a pain..tried all that stuff..brake cleaner, carb cleaner,ATF,gas, green products..etc.Does not seem to help much. Some guys on here said they used Orange Hand Cleaner and scrubbed.Daman says he uses aircraft paint stripper.Just wish there was something you can just dip it in and pull out and it is all clean.Wishful thinking I guess.Maybe these newly coated PV's I got from Richard will clean off easier..just don't want to scratch them...

I use Q-tips dipped in solvent to clean the recess where the power-valve is. Only takes about 6,000 Q-tips to get it clean - at least that's how many it seems to take before they start coming out clean.

Cleaning Power Valves is rather easy. I have been doing it for years this way with my Seadoos and never have had a problem.

I get a razor blade and slice off the carbon first (without scratching the PV's), then soak them in Brake Cleaner and do the next. When I am done with the razor blade on all 3, I take the first PV out of the cleaner, razor blade any carbon I missed, and then take a tooth brush and scrub them real good. Total time is approx. 20 minutes for 3 PV's for me.

I find taking the drive shaft off and replacing the seal and the bearings, etc. much more harder (especially putting the drive shaft back into place) then cleaning PV's.

well maybe I shouldn't use them..just put in my showcase behind glass and look at the sexiness everyday...lol.Kinda don't want to get them dirty....

the coater said laquar thinner or brake cleaner ....i havent had enough build up to have to clean them yet .........

hey rich..did you get a message from another member on here about the PV's I will be sending you for future work.I won't mention any names..just wanted to see if you guys connected up...
