i'm considering the thought of selling my 2001 SRX and looking to buy either a Viper or possibly an RX-1. i got this thing about a year ago and it was not well taken care of. i replaced every bushing, bearing, bolt and everything else that looked worn out or broken with OEM parts (i work at a Yamaha shop). newer track, rebuilt the clutches, new idler wheels, power valve cables, studed the track, cleaned the carbs, new reeds, and the list goes on and on. the body is in pretty good shape a few scratches here and there. the thing runs really good and it hasn't given me any issues.
let me know what you guys think. i live in ohio.

make sure you drive an rx-1 before you sell your srx. I was going to do the same thing with my viper until I drove an rx-1.

How many miles? In Ontario, I have seen them listed between $3 - $5k (low miles).

IMO - don't mess with success.

Viperize the front and rear with the skid of your choice and keep going.

Seems in Cananda they're getting larger coin but if you got it cheap maybe you can unload it for a profit. I've owned mine since new so it'd be a total waste to sell mine. Not like I haven't lost money on a snowmobile before ;>)

..and I've had to replace nearly every bushing, bearing, track, front and rear susp, etc... as "regular" maintenance.

Looks good, I'd keep it.

hey thanks for all the input guys. and yes the "cats " do seem to de-value anything they sit next to, lol. my uhh bull balls can be found on trail 7 i think around Higgins Lake, Mi. when it melts. they fell off. LOL.

My friend might be selling his '02 Viper IF you decide to go that route. He is also very good friends with amatosrx.

do they handle funny? they look like they would be great sleds.

The one I drove had very heavy steering (felt like I was going back in time). The engine braking drove me crazy but something to get used to I guess. The guy who owned it always had it at his mechanics for carb cleaning and adjustments but he was a pretty fussy guy. it was a mountain rx-1 all stock.

i have drove some good rx1 and some bad ones. but will agree as an srx lover. unless you really have your heart set on having a 4-stroke, keep the srx, find a good suspension front and rear and keep it, you wont regret it. i have a viper er and an earlier rx style nytro and i miss my srx bad. i had viper ohlins in the rear and xtc 15" long ohlins in the front with pilot skis and there is not another sled out there that would compare, im seriously concidering going back to an srx.

the engine brake feeling is in all of the earlier 4-strokes have to get used to it, you cant snap in and out of the throttle, you have to ease in and out of it, especially out of it. in the right conditions it will actually lock up the track and start sliding if you dont ease out of it. after you get used to that you will notice you dont have to use the brake nearly as much. it is a diffrent style of riding. if you are following me you will notice that if you see my brake light it means something ahead, usually used just as a warning to others behind me.

you know after thinking about it for a couple of days i think i might just keep this thing. it's kinda like the 69 camaro or the 66 mustang. even though it's older... it's a classic and it has the appearance to be one bad mother... i did viper rear shocks and flipped the front shock mounts, but the stock KYB's aren't the best shock. i need to track down some Ohlins for it.
