I have a '89 Phazer with the original 116 suspension. I want to upgrade with a better rear skid. I happen to have a xtra 12 with the fox shocks that I was going to put in a srx, but now I'm thinking of trying it in a phazer. I really don't kow how much difference there is between the xtra 10 and the 12 if any. Anybody try this yet, if so, does anybody have a template? I haven't started this yet but just looking for some info and feedback first.

I just finished putting an Xtra 10 skid in my Exciter II. I was told by numerous people to stay away from the 12.

Very good to know. May have to look for a xtra 10 instead. Was it straight forward in the exciter?

I put an Xtra 10 in my EX last winter - as simple & straight forward and measuring, marking, and drilling holes. Template from jbshocks site worked like a charm.

It is simple and straight forward but will be quite time consuming if you're a perfectionist.
Also, the JB measurements say 5 1/4" from the top of the tunnel but you have to remember that many Polaris's don't have the top coolers. I would go at least 5 1/4" from the coolers in the back.
I've been meaning to do an actual write up here but just haven't got around to it.

how do you like the extra 10 in your sx? I put a skid from a 97 vmax in mine and it is awesome.

I put a Ski-Doo SC10 II in my 85 Phazer about 300 miles ago. It made a huge difference. It was very easy to do. You also have to use a 121 inch track. The front holes had to be moved back and I was able to use the stock rear bracket and just move it a little bit. Sled rides way better now but it's a little tippy because of the height I gained. I put a Aaen pipe on it and I can keep up to the new sleds in the small trails.

I dropped the idea of the xtra 12 and bought a sc10 III instead. It went in using the existing rear holes and measured for the front ones. So far it looks like it is a good swap for the phazer. I have it all apart right now doing other mods, but will post pics soon after I get done testing to make sure it rides as good as it looks. Thanks for everyones replies thus far.

I know I had to move the rear holes forward a little. But I used an SC10 II and I measured off my other sled that came with one.

Did you move your front holes with the sc-10 2 skid? I moved mine back and up a bit as the approach angle was not enough with the sc-10 3. I know I should have moved the rear ahead as per the donour sleds measurement but I left it back for now as I thought that it would ride softer back to compensate for the phazer weight difference. I will know better after the first ride...

Yes I did move the front holes back about 2 inches. And I moved the rear forward about a 1/2 inch. You are right about the attack angle because of the larger drivers on the Ski-Doo. The only thing I did was suck in the front limiter strap a little and this helped with the angle. I will post a few pics on here tomorrow of the tunnel.
