My question is on a 03 RX1. For some reason I cant log on or reregister on the 4 stroke side? Anyway. I have a friend who had a bearing failure on the bearing which goes behind the secondary. He bought the sled used and the bearing was bad. He upgraded to 05 parts. Over the weekend he blew the belt and noticed the play in the bearing area. We limped it back to the cabin and tore it down. I went to get parts while he was removing bearing. He could not get the bearing out of the bulkhead with out special tool. Should it be a tight fit or slide in like a speedo side bearing? It has a snap ring to retain it. I was unable to get a breakdown of the picture on Yamahas parts site. It seems like a strange design. It has a split sleeve which slides over the shaft and through the bearing. There is a nut on the other side. What keeps the sleeve from pulling through or the nut from backing out. How does the washer stack up between the clutch and bearing go? Trip is over and sled is 500 miles away and I would like to know how this works and how long this bearing should last.
