anybody try running 24-37 gearing for 1000'?? They say to gear for 10% faster than you want to go. That gearing would be good for 115.763 mph minus 10% would only be around 104mph. I have ran 104mph with my trail studded sled in 1000' with 23-38 gearing. I am going to be setting this sled up for strictly speed running with lowered suspension, lube system, different slides and a speed track this summer and was wondering about putting 24-37 gearing in it.

The 10% over gearing is typically for a trail sled. For radar runs in a known distance you would be better off gearing closer to what the sled is realistically capable of running for MPH as you want to be close to max clutch efficency ratio of 1 : 1.
I would siggest you experiment with the gun and different gearing...it will quickly become obvious what works best!

everybody says 23-38 gearing is best for an SRX700 in 1000' but on paper it doesn't come close to what the fast guys are running in mph?

LOL!

The gearing is only accomadating the other aspects of their setup that give them those speeds...I myself am amazed at the speeds some of members are getting on ice wuth their SRXs!

Tony swears that 23-38 is the best gear ratio for top speed in 1000' but I just don't know I wish I knew what Sandy Reid and Taylor Gullikson had for gearing in their sleds. They are dominating in 1000' around here.

How fast are they running...I would bet that they are close to 1 : 1 shift ratio so just figure out what gears they need for that speed and it will get you close to knowing their gearing, but just because you run their same gear ratio it doesn't mean you can run their speeds. As I said earlier all the gear ratio does is add to the setup and accomadate the speed capability of the rest of their setup and track conditions.

Sandy Reid is the current NSSR world record holder in the stock class which allows lowered suspension, slide lubers, a .500 speed track with ice picks and a small gas tank inside the original tank. They have to weigh 722lbs with the rider. They are running between 112-115mph in 1000' so if you put that on paper they would have to be running something like 24-37 or somewhere around 1.55 gear ratio. But I'm not sure if they can play with the clutches to get overdrive out of them.

srx700guy does it have to be a 2000 if so im new to this is there a specific reason
well no not neccisarily but the 98 and 99 run 13 wide gears and chains and the 2000-2002 run 15 wide. I'm just trying to figure out what gears to run in my sled to get the most speed out of it in 1000'

huh???? why was I thinking the other way? are they all 15 spline shafts?
