Send all the shocks to Pioneer Perf. Have them rebuild and revalve them.
I thought they are non-rebuildable in this sled?

just looking to get rearend up alittle, and alittle more cushin on the bumps without replacing the skid.i have read all these forums and the changes i have made all have worked, problem is i have rear spring as tight as it can go on the ramp.i can pick up the rearend about three inches still, then when i sit on it i lose another 3 to 4 inches.just looking for the best coil over shock for the money.

Ohlins would be the best but pricey. I would try to find some Viper takeoff KYB's and send them to Pioneer for a re-valve/ rebuild as Stein suggested. They do a great job.
How many miles on sled? ANything over 3000miles should have the shocks all rebuilt. It makes an amazing difference. If you are bottoming over anything remotely large it is because the oil is completely broken down allowing the shock to blow right through to the bottom. I have a viper rear in my srx. Yes it is not good ALL around but I can set it up for small bumps AND large. Bottoming resistance is good when setup for it. Get your shocks done.

I rebuilt the skid per betheviper and put a set of ohlins in the rear and wow what a diff. I love it, very nice ride. Most guys will tell you to change out the skid but i wanted to keep what i had. chris

In my 2004 MNT Viper after I bought it used in mint condition, being a bigger guy I put new Ohlins in the factory rear suspension. Skid is 156". LOVE THE RIDE. Got the Ohlins for a super price as they were being cleared out at the time. Good thing too is my buddy is the local Yamaha dealer!!
