Was just looking at the front end of my Viper to see what needed to be tightened up, and found quite a bit of slop in the radius rod ends when shaking them with the front end jacked up in the air. I planned on doing BTV'S coffee can shims on the ends with plastic bushings, but the only way I can see to take care of the heim joints is to replace the whole end with the little ball joint included? Then I looked at the price of new ones and thought I might just have to live with the slop....over $200 for the set of four! Anyone have any other ideas? I've looked online and found other metric heim joints, but they dont have the little ball joint that the bolt goes through.

yep they are expensive.I need to replace mine on my SRX..getting sloppy also.Replaced the ones on my 600 years agao and they still are good.A pain to take out and put back in also..always something to replace.

Yeah bluemonster1 - I totally agree: A REAL PAIN. One of the four bolts would turn, but was real tight. I ended up putting a carbide tip blade on a saws-all, and sawing through the narrow space between the heim joint and the frame, then beating it out with a punch and a hammer. NOT my idea of a good time.

I can tell you that those bolts are very hard and a regular saws-all blade doesn't hardly scratch them. A carbide tip blade will do the job.

that's why I will only replace them in the summer months..no rush and not cold either..not what I would call a fun episode and something I would only touch if I am really really bored...otherwise I will run them loose..

Thanks for the replies....Capnviper, thanks- I checked those out, but the ball joint swivel part of the ones on a Viper are a little more than an inch long, on the outer ones anyway. Maybe just a specific type for the Viper? Probly a dealer only item...

The inner ones are bigger around but I think they have a shorter ball joint. Havn't tried getting the inner ones out yet, looks like a fun project....The outer one came off pretty easily.

They might just have to stay sloppy! Or find some tight used ones...

I thought sno-tek made some. I bought 2 sets of their front end bushings sets and they are amazing. but the site seems to be down now?? I was on their site like a month ago. maybe they are no more?
