Didn't want to spend the $$ for rail mounted scratchers so I just made some for my skis. Bored a hole in the back of each ski, slipped a 3" bolt through, washers down on top and then with a small hole through the top of each bolt slipped a clip through to hold it all in there. They work great! especially at any kind of speed. Really get alot of spray on the coolers and hyfax. Hopefully we get some new snow soon so I won't have to use them on this frozen tundra we've got now.
I'm sure alot of you have already done this, but figured I'd post anyway. I don't have a rear cooler yet so this works great and I can actually ride without fear of an overheat.

I have thought of doing this also. could you post some pics.? I always thought that replacing a $2 bolt every season would not be a bad thing.

in my opinion, rail mounted scratchers are too far back and would not provide the cooling effect that the ski mounted ones, whether on the spindle bolt or on the end where you have it. Good idea.
