1999 SRX700, Driveshaft snapped in half. I'm going to replace the bearings and seals in the chaincase, but how do I get it off? I've got the bolts off that hold it on, the case seems free from the chassis but won't come loose from the shafts. Should I pry with a crowbar, or hit it off with a hammer? Are there set screws on the bearings?
TIA!
TIA!
Have you removed the bearing holder on the jackshaft near the secondary? There are C-clips that hold the bearings in place in the chaincase. There are set screws on the speedo beaing on the driveshaft.

I would use a big sledgehammer..it'll do the trick......no..When I did mine the first time..it was tough also, look in the tech section..it explains the procedure and some grunting also is needed to pull the case off

I was just going to pull the chaincase off the two shafts versus removing the jackshaft. I'll probably wait until this summer to change the secondary side bearing.
bluemonster: yeah that's what i was thinking just didn't want to hit at it with something still holding it on. It must just be held on by rust or whatever from not being serviced. The rest seems simple; remove circlips, press out old bearings, press in new bearings, reinstall with spacers
