I have an 89 ovation and it has started to clunk on the right side especially under load and driving slow. It sounds like either a sproket (in the crank case) is missing a tooth or something in the crank case is slipping. I have filled it up with oil to make sure everything is lubed up.
Are these easy to take appart?
Any tips or tricks would be great.

Silly question. Did you check the chain tension?
Well, that is part of my question.
Can you do that without removing the bolts and the housing that protects the chain?
I know it can be increased or decreased by the but infront of the chaincase but i don't know how how much i am suppsed to tighten it or not.

Yes. Loosen the stop bolt that is against the chaincase. Snug the bolt finger tight and then back off 1/4 turn. Retighten the locking nut.
