i getting my carbs bored, jugs race ported, case ported and and heads cut and degreed. they said it would have to run on 114 octane gas. going to run stock pipes. going to run 1/4 mile ashpalt drags. looking for a carb set up, clutching and gearing. i ran it last year stock with hc clutch kit in it. with no air box. no going to run an airbox in it this year.

I heard they're good. Never heard of them. If you don't mind me asking, how much are they charging for that and how much extra horsepower can you expect?

they should be able to steer you in the right direction for cluthing, gearing , etc. I beleive Gerry once raced SRX's, and he knows them inside and out.

383stroker, on asphalt, your suspension will be far more critical then your clutching/gearing is. You can run pretty well with trail clutching set ups, stock gearing is good place to start, but... the key is to have the rear suspension working for you and not against you. Every 1/10th you can take off your 60ft time will be 2/10ths off your elapsed time at the end. If you can go out and get a 60ft time right in the lower 1.5's your headed in the right direction, with the stock pro action skid and ALOT of work, have been in the 1.4's on 60ft times here.
mid 10 sec times are very capable with a stock srx, if you have that kind of engine work done,(assuming you have good suspension set up), you should be running in the 9's. Its a blast on the tar!

what do you need to run on the asphalt? i know the obvious but skis, and track , and set-up skid?ive been looking for something to get me back to the drag strip and the bike)harley and car are not gonna happen this year

other than the skiis and track obviously. tether cord, leathers and a cooling station. that is all i started with. i have even used a guardan hose from the camper hook ups to cool it down before the cooling station is just handyer.

I seem to remember reading years ago that the standard belt/clutch guard wasn't thick enough for NHRA tracks....

never had an issue getting teched in the two tracks that i go too. they might be different rule that faster you go. not sure.

Could be, dunno. It was the first year NHRA had listed sled regulations in their handbook and things may have changed. I just thought I'd mention it.
