My 01 SX500R quit on me the other day doing about 55mph. It just turned off. Prior to that the sled was running rough with intermittent power and the hand warmers were going from off to burning my hands the last 20 miles before she quit.
Once I got it home I learned it had no spark. I've replaced the plugs, coil and wires, plug boots, and the CDI , but it still has no spark.
The sled has about 6300 miles on it.
Any ideas where to look next?
Many thanks,
Wolf

Have you tested your Stator?
Also, maybe a chance of a wire harness rub thru ???

Thanks for the reply
I have not checked the stator and honestly don't have a clue how to do this.
I did go through the wiring that I could get to and did not notice any rub through, bare wires, or disconnected wires.

not to be a wise guy but did you pull it out from under the motor when you checked it? most of the rubthroughs happen under the motor.
I need wise guys, because I'm clueless. Thanks for the headsup, I didn't even know anything ran under the motor. I checked around handlebars, headlight, carbs etc. Many many thanks. I'll check it out later this week and report back.
