Will the chaincase gears and chain off of a '97 Vmax SX 700 fit on an '02 Viper? They are different part OEM part numbers, but was wondering if they will fit and are of the same strength for the Viper?

correction 97 sx is 70L chain 23/40 gearing 02 viper w/o reverse 68L 23 38 gearing its all in thetech section stock sled specs

Can you add a link to the 68L chain and make it a 70L?

measure youre bolt holes im sure the chaincase its self will bolt up you will just need to use viper gearing an chain

I am not swapping the chaincase itself, I just want to use the gear sprockets. I am playing with different gearing on my viper and wondering if those gears from a '97 will fit. I know I will also need to up to a 70L chain if I use both the 23T top and 40T bottom gear.

Here are 2 pictures. The gear with the 40T written on it is from the '97 SX 700. The other is from an Viper. But if I replace both top and bottom gear and the chain, will they fit on the Viper and be as durable?

as long as you use the sx gears/chain as a set they interchange no problem.

how are the offsets on the bottom gears?......meaning from the hyvo to the non hyvo. looks like the hyvo has a nice flange on the gear, to really get some offset. i think if i remember right, the overall width of the bottom hyvo sprockets is 1.185" or like 1.165"?? either way, you may need to shim out the bottom gear, to have a overall width setup, equal to what the stock hyvo bottom gear is in overall width. follow me??

So the '97 gears are non-hyvo? Which means if I want the strength and durability I need to stick with the hyvo gears from a viper or srx and find ones that match up with OEM part numbers for the '02.

SX 700 GEARS ARE 13 WIDE NON-HYVO. THEY ACTUALLY WORKED NICE ON THE 98-99 SRX THAT ARE 15 WIDE NON- HYVO. THERE ALSO IS A HUGE DEFFERENCE IN PRICE. THE SX GEARS WILL WORK ON VIPER, BUT YOU MUST USE NON-HYVO CHAIN. THATS UP TO YOU IF YA WANT TO STAY WITH HYVO. 3:16 (yammie tony)
