Had this conversation over lunch today with Rambunctious. We are wondering how many of you ride with leather gloves, and do the last more than one season?? We both need new gloves... sick of buying new ones every season. I'm going to be out tomorrow buying new gloves, and need to know what to look for in a durable glove.

I had a set of yamaha leather gloves.I loved them! they were so easy to move around and control with. But they did rip at the seams real fast.I took them back for another pair of the same. They lasted 2 seasons. I would for sure buy them again.Never had such a nice fitting/working glove.

My boyfriend just got a pair of True North Adventure Gear 'Storm Gloves' www.tnagear.com
We saw them at Hay days and the lady selling them has her husbands pair to show how long they last. They are thin, but seem to be warm.

I bought a pair of Choko leather racing gloves about 5 years ago. They have the long gauntlet sleeve that goes halfway up my forearm, and removable inner lining for when the inside gets wet. I think I paid about $60 for them. A couple of years later I was at a swap meet and saw the same thing for $35, so I bought them. I figured the 1st pair would wear out after a few years, but they haven't. None of the seams have ripped out. In fact, the leather palm is starting to wear through a little bit, but I'll be using them again this year. The other pair is still brand new and in the bottom of my gear bag somewhere. I would highly recommend these gloves!

Anybody use the Klim togwatee gloves?
Spend some dough and get a pair of Marmonts "Ultimate ski glove"
$150 bucks. I've owned a pair for 8 years and use them for everything and they're in the same shape as the day I bought them only a little dirtier. Kevlar reinforced nlyon tops with a nice high gauntlet that will fit over any jacket sleeve with a draw string to sinch them up. Leather palms and fingers. Goretex and primaloft lined.
Bulletproof and toasty!

My mother has an old pair of Polaris Sizzler mittens she bought waaaaay back in '87. She says they are comfy and keep he hands warm, so why buy a new pair?
By the way, Waterfoul, the "mini" under your avatar is your ranking. This site uses a ranking system that lists us by number of posts. Well, I ended up with some Coldwaves for gloves. Leather underside for the fingers and palms. Windproof, waterproof. Very comfortable. Large gauntlet cuff. Should fit over my new Arctiva jacket just fine.

I'll second the Chokos. Very durable.
The only problem I have is how rank the inside gets. It seems that sweat, gas, oil, adrenaline and fear all mix together to create a pretty foul stench.
Any tips on how to freshen them up?

Ill third the choko. Plus they have this cool sqeegie on the right finger to wipe water and snow off your windshield without scratching it. Going on six years with only a little wear through on the left thumb. never had cold hands!
I have had the same leather Yamaha gloves for about 8yrs. They did finally start to come apart last year. After not finding any others that I liked I ended up using some duct tape and fixing them. The other pair I has were also Yamaha leathers, I had them for 9yrs.
