There was recently a thread on here talking about a Viper pipe being bolted onto a '99 SX600. Everyone said it can be done and bolts right in giving the sled up to an 8HP bump. However, no on mentioned if the stock silencer was swapped for the Viper silencer. I have a '99 SX600 and wouldl like to do this mod but I need to know which silencer to use.
Any input would be much appreciated.

a friend is trying it out with his motor that is clutched and jetted correct. He will let us know what he found with the suposed increase in power. I have untill the other day heard of this being tested on a dyno. If it is an 8hp increase, correct clutching should overrev alot.

I have a 99 600 and have a viper pipe i purchased specifically for that purpose. You have to use the stock Y-pipe because the exhaust ports on the SX are round and the viper's are oval. I fitted the pipe with both the stock muffler and the viper muffler. The viper box seems to fit much better, but where the pipe connects to the box, touches the hood when lowered. I didnt check to see i had any foam i could remove. I then fit it with the sx box, and it did fit, just not as well...had more clearance between pipe and hood. Let me know how yours works out. Also spoke to hauck about this and he said you may want to richen your jetting 1-2 sizes on the main jet. Good Luck!

I too would be very interested in the dyno report....

I was wondering if anybody actually here knows how much this raises the HP. I'm using a viper exhaust on a 700. I noticed that the Viper box doesn't fit as well under the hood. I'm playing around with it it to see if I can get it to fit better. If not, I may go to an aftermarket can. Also wondering if I should richen the jets up.

I'd probably start with the 145 and see what it does. Swapping jets is easy compared to Pistons and cylinders. You got jets? I've got my entire box of jets still. Don't really need them anymore since all I have are 4-strokes now. I think I have multiples of all from 130 to 165 or 170 plus pilots if you need anything

Wooooooh. Why am i just hearing about this? What kind of clutching would i need to make it work???

I bought a primary from a Viper a few years back and recalibrated it for my pipes, so I have the stock Viper weights, I'm going to start with those, just for kicks. I also have 2 sets of 8CHs, one loaded for the stock pipe, and one loaded for the triple pipes I had. Otherwise I'm going to have to learn how to clutch.

Here's where it's at. The Viper pipe fits (had to trim down one of the screen tabs), but the Viper can doesn't fit, it fits the belly pan, but the hood doesn't close all the way (1 1/2" open). So I bought an SLP viper can and used that, it fits nicely. The can is similar noise level as stock, just a different note. I ran it with 145 mains, 45 pilots screws @ 1 3/4 turns, and clips in the 3rd position. Everything looked good at 15°F but that night it dropped to -15 and I burned up the PTO piston 5 miles miles from home on a 200 mile ride. Sucks! But I put a new piston in and cleaned up the cylinder. I set the clips @ the 2.5 position & turned the fuel screws out to 1 7/8 turns with a 147 main in the PTO, the other pistons still looked pretty good as far as piston wash goes, so I kept them with the 145 mains. I rode it for 400 miles. I used the stock clutch settings, and I have way too much over-rev, but since then we've lost all the snow, I didn't do anything else. But because the over-rev (worse than normal for stock clutch settings, I would assume there's more HP there).
