SRX power valve, cracked?

I picked up a spare SRX power valve recently that was supposed to be in good condition other than the thin cable end. After closer inspection I see what looks like a crack around the shank (see pic). The crack is about 270 degrees around the perimeter, the worst of it is shown in the pic and it gets lighter/thinner beyond. I can catch my fingernail on the part shown, but not so easily in the other areas.

I tried to look at the crack thru a couple different magnifiers, and it doesn't appear to be as I had expected (V-shaped and deeper into the shank). The crack appears very shallow and has a relatively flat, or smoothly contoured, bottom. Are the shanks coated/anodized/hardenend to a shallow depth, and perhaps this is what has cracked/separated?

Any thoughts on if this is salvageable, is it completely junk, or can it be used or repaired?
Thanks,
Ron

If I were you I would get off my walet, contact YAMAHEAD (Rich) and have him send you a new one. Spend a few bucks and be done with it.

if it has a crack..guess what..it will break there eventually..probably a bad casting or weak material there..get a new one or used one..ask MR AKA POWERVALVE..lol

Looks like a defect in the material. Probably looked like that when the assembler put it in the machine the day it was built. I would get a different one through mr.powervalve

are you talking about were i have circled ? if so i wouldnt take a chance running it in my motor.....send me a pm i have a couple valves in stock that have stainless steel ends installed already ..let me know if you wnat one as they will be gone soon ....

Thanks for the input guys, first thing now is I'll try to return it to the dishonest seller.

Rich, yes it is the area you have circled. If the return doesn't work out I'll be in touch as needed.

Nete, I wasn't expecting or asking for that type of response. The fact is, I did get off my wallet to buy this as a spare and keep it in circulation for the good of the SRX crowd - whether that is myself, or a friend of mine, or perhaps someone here. I was fully aware that the end would need attention and that there are people around to do this (and that would take more of my wallet). I haven't been shy about spending money on my favorite wintertime sport, please keep these types of comments to yourself.

Sorry buddy, I didn't try to come off as rude or abrasive.
