Hi guys,
I have some vibration om my SRX 700 -98. I sounds like it do when you ride on hard surfaces, But i have this vibrations all the time. I wonder if it might be the track tension. i have attached a pic on the track.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, what to check?

I would say your track is to loose. You are getting major balloning effect..track probably hitting tunnel.I tightened mine up with 22 lbs weights and 1.25 drop from hyfax.I also have studs and that is extra weight being rotated.Have enough stud marks on tunnel and front exchanger from the original track on there and to loose...
Check your skid bearings and wheels. Check for missing clips on the track. Check the belt for a flat spot. Check the clutches for deep gouges. That should keep you busy for a little while. lol

After som further investigation i found that one bearing had seized. The bearing sits in one of the lower wheels inside the skids. You kan see it on the pic in my first post.
The wheel could hardly be turned and the dust shields had melted away.
It had to use the angle grinder to remove it from the axle.
I don't know if this has anything to do with the vibration.

its kinda funny that one can tellsomething is different because of a new noise or vibration that wasn't there before.I notice on the SRX the other day that there was a certain kinda noise coming from under me..but carried on.After sled was in the garage and I was ready for another ride,I used the bumper jack to raise the sled..noticed that one of the rail mount ice scratchers was really to close to the track.always wooried about the scratchers ramming into a track window. Then when I grabbed it the idler wheel wobbled like crazy. The nut behind holding the wheel was almost undone.I basically could turn it with my fingers to take it off,so loctited it again and tightened her up.Would think it was making some sound..would hate it to all come off and ram to the back of the track with a scrather jamming something.

Sorry, but I don't agree with you on this one in his case.He doesn't appear to have studs and neither do I.I have always ran my track looser(just tight enough not to ratchet) than what his is and never had a problem.15k miles and counting. You are setting yours to the factory spec.(which is not wrong)but setting like that will only slow you down and wear sliders faster.

I am a touch more then factory spec. And I have heard guys who race say that on a given day..they adjusted their tracks a little tighter and gained some miles an hour...My hyfax is still like new into 3rd season because of over sized idlers and rear wheels.Track rotates freely up on a stand,so resistance is minimal. One thing one can check is if the drive axle cogs are starting to get too rounded off and starting to skip once in a while.More likly maybe his drive bearing is starting to go or he has something bent..like rear axle or jackshaft out of round...

First I've heard of anyone getting more speed with a tighter track.I can see running a really tight track if your running a lot of picks and running speeds in excess of 120 mph,but other than that...As far as sliders I'm on my 3rd or 4th set(pretty sure 3rd) since new and original sprockets.Just my experience.I have ran over 110 mph with no rubbing, but with no picks and a cheaper Camoplast track.

That would do it
