Need some help. I have a 98 SRX700 with a fried motor. Recently purchased a 00 motor. Has any one ever converted the magneto connection. Has far as I can see the difference between the two years is the electronics. A wiring diagram would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think
I think the CDI changed also but someone will defintely correct me if I'm wrong.
Are you thinking of putting your old magneto on the new engine? Or the new magneto & engine on the old electrical system.

you will be in for alot of work to do this, the stator, flywheel, mounting point for the pulse coil are all differnt, as is the cdi box, carb rack, wiring harness, headlight assembly, grip warmers. You could use the old 98 stator and flywheel but you will have to have the pulse coil pick up mount rewelded and machined to move it in the correct location, the 98-99 flywheel is way larger in diameter then the 2000-02 ones, and thus this is why the pulse coil location is moved on the case. 98-99 srx are 175 watt ignition , 2000-02 are 300 watt with 3d timing, it requires input from the throttle pos. sensor on the carbs to adjust ign timing and only fires the coils 1 time at tdc instead of all 3 at 1 time like the 98-99. If I were gonna do this, I would find someone parting out a 2000-02 and get the headlight, carb rack, but you will need a 2000 year only wiring harness and cdi box. All the srx from 2000-02 all use a differnt cdi box and wiring harness as the connectors are differnt on all 3 years.
