So I've just picked up a 2000 SRX-700. Seemed to be in decent shape but showing it's age. After about a half hour of riding, nothing crazy at all, and the rear end falls flat. Almost like the skid was tucked up in the tunnel. Anyways it is in the garage thawing so I can have a good look at it. I did noticed that both relay rods are broken....I'm assuming this is what's causing the skid to collapse. I'm wondering if I should start sinking money into this skid or swap in a different platform. Any help is appreciated.

Swap to a much better skid for $300 or so.
If its going to be a trail sled put different suspension in it!!!007SRX said:So I've just picked up a 2000 SRX-700. Seemed to be in decent shape but showing it's age. Ya it's gonna be a trail sled. Would broken relay rods make the skid fully compress though ? At $65 a piece I would be half way to a SC-10 or Xtra 10. Guess I have a bit of searching and reading to do.
Not sure if it is for lack of interest in Polaris or if the Skidoo skid rides better but I think more people are doing the Skidoo skid swap versus the Polaris. Guys are doing the M-10 swap but I'm sure you already know M-10's bring alot more money. I know guys are putting the long travel Viper skids and front suspension in the SRX and seem to be liking it. I have never ridden an SRX with anything other than the stock suspension and even whe it is working good it isn't very good in my opinion.007SRX said:Ya it's gonna be a trail sled. I would put anything in it before rebuilding a old proaction ,anything newer than 02 that is.
Race or trail does not matter.I would have no 2nd thoughts about putting any articcat skids under my ride as well.
A buddy has a f7 with a simple chain with a hook on it that he can tie the rear suspention down in 2 seconds.

Just to confirm though, the busted relay rods would let the suspension compress fully ? If that's my only problem I might pick up some used ones to finish the season off and change the skid this summer.

I have the 2001 Viper suspension in my 98 SRX and it rides great on the trails.
Never used the M10 so I can't compare, but the Viper bolts right in and it's still Yamaha!!!! I have to play with the track tension a bit because it likes to eat the hyfax if not much snow. You can get these on ebay for cheap.
