Quick question, I'm trying to change a broken control rod on a 00 SRX700 and the shaft that they go on (and the back of the rear shock bolts to) has a seized bearing. Can I just smack the shaft through the other side to get it off ? TIA for any help.

yes you can just smack it.It will be stubborn,..but will eventually move. You wanna maybe use a socket over the shaft end to protect the shaft until it starts to move.I have tried using the bolt in the end and ended up still slightly deforming the shaft end and bolt.Have to have some patience also..

another trick is to go to the hardware store and get a bolt with the same thread to use as a sacrificial beating bolt.

i have found the hardware store bolts will have a larger head(17mm) vs the stock 14mm bolt. a little more surface area to smack and you dont have to worry about damagaing bolt or shaft.

Awesome, worked like a charm. What's the trick to getting the skid to line back up, it's sitting about an inch and a half to far forward to line up with the holes on the tunnel ?
