My 2000 SRX has 150, and 148.88 main jetting but spec is 147.5, and 146.3. My jetting is for a 2001 SRX. Should I bother and get the right size main jets or will it not make a difference?

Okay. Will do. Plug color is on the dark side, now I know why. 2 out of 3 pilot jets were plugged, hence my idle hang and low end bog. Now just have to fix the high speed bog from 8,300 to 7,000. Have primary apart currently (did not see anything wrong with it, just dirty).

the jetting that was in my 01 was different (richer) than what the manual said it should be. I guess maybe factory jets them for the approximate elevation/temperature of the locations they are going to?

Sorry. What is your current jetting?

2001 SRX stock jetting was spot on. That jetting works perfect for pump gas on a stock motor

If I bought a 2000 SRX, thats the first thing I would change and put the fuel screws out to 1.5 turns

The sled brand new came with 150 and 148.8, with 40 pilots. I have been running 147.6 and 146.3 with 42.5 pilots for the last few years. That's what the manual has highlighted for an 01 and it matches my elevation (temperature range is a little warm though). Note that my sled has always burned more gas than normal, which means that regardless of jet size it was probably getting too much fuel. Now that I've replaced the carbs with 02 carbs, I'll have to check my plugs to see if I'm okay.
