ok guys i need the basic scoop on ethonal .in new brunswick it hasent been an issue till now.i understand what it does and what it causes but experience is best what has everybody found out?will it affect my rx1

Ethanol is just crap for a 2-stroke. Most manufacturers will tell you to not run it. I do know the crap will really gum up and quick in carbs. Not much more to say. Don't run it, but if you need to, get thru it quick and I wouldn't leave it in even if stabilized. Personal opinion.

This is my personal experience over the last 20 years of using ethanol in every kind of motor...
It works in everything with no issues. Yes, a motor that had been used a lot prior to ethanol (e10) will run into some glitches at first, but that is not really ethanol's fault, more of the fault of the old gas leaving residue that the tank and fuel system have accumulated over the years. So, you might see some issues with fuel filters getting plugged, but watch for that, and clean your carb(s) a little bit after running e10, and you'll more than likely have no problems.
So much can be attributed to hype about E10. Please don't fall for false rumors and speculation.

If you dont drain your carbs every season, the ethanol in the gas will create crystals in the float bowls and fuel system. The white gummy stuff in your carbs is crystals from ethanol.
The thing about gasoline that I have learned is, in smaller quantities, such as the little bit of gas left in the float bowls over the year will go bad much quicker then if you had 12 gallons of gas stored in the tank all year. I would trust 12 gallons of gas left in the tank with no treatment before I would trust 2 or 3 gallons by itself.

i finally found someone that could test the crap found in all the carbs that i have cleaned since ethanol has become a mandate ?yrs ago all i can say is since its mandate 90% of the problems with sleds,bikes,saws,anything 2stroke and carb 4stroke has been fuel related. that being said the test found that the residue found in the carbs (the clear jelly of death or colored depending on additives you add) was related to the rust preventing additives put into ethanol to make it a multi usable fuel. this fuel is death to 2strokes, because 2strokes get there lube with there fuel, any fuel restriction is a lube restriction, plus the other effects of ethanol and water ect. thanks chevyboy!

Yes, I would agree. We had issues in the past with the advent of ethonal into our fuel systems. But, the issue was basically the clogging of filters, guming of carbs ect. The ethonal is a great cleaner of the fuel tank. Since we have been running ethonal blended fuel for several years, no issues at all. One thing we do use is Startron fuel conditioner.
