I recently over heated my sx (water pump went out) but I noticed the temp light never came on. I have it all back together now and let it idle for a while but still cant get temp light to work. Just wondering if it is out or the bulb is blown or what. How can I check to see if the sensor is working or if I have a wire out.I really need to know as I don't want to ride it till I know for sure it will work
check the bulb first as thats the easiest. simply swap it out for any other in the gauge pod.
next, to rule out the sensor itself, pull it out from the head, get your self an electrical multimeter, a thermometer, and a pan of water on the stove. dont know what your sled is, but for most triples, use the following as a test:
5.2-6.4 ohms @34*F
.29-.35 ohms @176*F
.17-.208 ohms @ 212*F
may need to verify specs as per your specific sled, happy to include those once i know what sled.
if the sensor tests out, look at the wiring. i know the triples had issues with the wire breaking where the harness enters the plug for the sensor.
