buddy is saying his viper with 7500? miles on it is hard to start when it is warm. cold, no problem. hot, no problem (still has to crack the throttle 1/8 or so like everyone else). it is when he stops for 1/2 to 1 hour and the sled doesn't want to start again. lots of choke, 1/2 choke, no choke, you name it, same stuff which involves a lot of pulling. i was thinking maybe the reeds are starting to curl which might be a factor. (and getting electric start!)

any thoughts?

Has he tried going WOT while cranking? I only ask because my XCR would do this and it was a sign that the needle and seats were leaking on one or more of the carbs. There was a bulletin from Polaris and changing all three fixed it. Going WOT while tugging helped to get it lit if it sat for an hour or so.

Or maybe a partially plugged vent line that might be allowing pressure build up in one or more of the bowls during a hot soak. Underhood temps will rise before dropping creating a pressure rise in the fuel line/bowls if not vented perhaps pushing fuel up the jet main.

If going WOT helps it's a good indicator that fuel leakage is the problem.

Just a thought.
