My primary clutch has small grooves on each face just about where the belt sits at idle.Other than that the clutch sheaves look great. These grooves have been there for a while and don't appear to be getting worse very fast.Is this something I should be concerned about?

The grooves are pretty normal on higher mileage Yamaha primaries and are a unfortunate downside of the durability of the hard compound OEM Yamaha belts we use. High engagement accelerates this condition. As long as the clutches are engaging and upshifting normally I would not worry about it but it will eventually lead to the requirement for a new ckutch.

Ok, good to know, the clutch seems to operate fine. This sled has nearly 12,000 miles on it and I noticed this grooving when the sled only had a couple thousand miles on it.About the same time I switched to an Ultimax 3 drive belt which I believe is quite a bit softer and the grooving really hasn't got much worse even after all these miles.I believe it is time for a full service with springs, bushing, ect. replaced thanks, you help is appreciated!
