I am planning to throw in an Edge skid in my viper this summer and I'm trying to decide if I should extend it to 136 as well or just leave it. If I leave it, I plan to add a 1.5" track, either intense or free ride. If I extend it, I will probably go with a 1.25".
I do a lot of trail riding, but also a lot of off trail and can't decide if it's worth it to go 136 or just go with a deep lug(121") to satisfy the off trail play times. I'm leaning towards sticking with the 121 being that it will be less work, but at the same time don't want to regret it after purchasing a new track.

agreed.
i'd go 136. it'll bridge bumps better & give you a better footprint offtrail. you can find tracks fairly cheap in many different sized lugs.
worth it in the long run.
this is a related question...for those that have extended to 136, does the sled fit in a 10' enclosed trailer? I know some 136" sleds do, but unsure about the viper. Thanks!

I love my 136 IQ skid so much I'm going to stretch to 144" for next season.

stretch it !! mine stretched to 144 and love it !!
alright...i'm all set on extending it to 136! Now i have to determine if I should go with the orig edge skid or go with the newer IQ version. It seems as though the ProX/IQ version requires a little more work, but they are easier to find, so we'll see.

what did that do for your performance? top speed?nysrx said:I stretched my 01 SRX to 136 and it is one of the best mods I did. I went with a 1inch Hacksaw track because I ended up studding it. My buddy stretched his RX1 to 136 and it fits in his 10FT clamshell trailor.
im getting another srx with a bad motor i may rebuild it and extend it! people with srx motors are retarded though they want more than sleds together are worth!!!!

Sadly they are worth more in pieces than as whole sleds.

Glad to see that you got it to work for you.

i was thinking of doing something similar to my 02 srx. but if i didnt want to break the bank, could i just extend the current skid and put in better shocks? would this be a cheaper solution or just cause more headache?

you could go with tip-up extensions and the handling wouldn't change much from your 121
who makes the tip up extensions for the NoAction?

tracksusa.com has em. they also sell complete packages with track, ext, and tunnel ext. i'm sure other companies have em too. but personally i'd change the skid to something better and extend that. jmo

Not as long as you don't stud it and pull any protectors out.

yeah, i plan to go 1.5 and keep stock drivers...i think we'll need to remove the protectors, but I'm not positive. i think the stock drivers will accept up to 1.75 as long as the protectors are removed and of course no studs.
