Should the trailing arms be powder coated? Or do you think that a strong single stage paint with some uv protectent be sufficient? The reason I ask is want to get them cleaned and reprayed but and a little short on funds for the powder coating.

I have spray painted mine with spray paint(rust paint) and then clear coated. The one's on my 600 are still good after like 4 years.Only if you hit them or drop a wrench on them..paint will chip..otherwise they will hold up good and cheap way to do it...

after every season..I clean them up good and give them a thin coat of paint again..just to keep them looking like new....nothin major...

I am going to sand blast and repain the front suspension parts on my 2000 SRX. I want to keep it in the original condition and have not found a powder that matches the original color. I tried a candy blue powder coating on the suspension arms for my RX-1, the color was close by the blue clear coat developed spider cracks in it so I will not be using a two coat powder coating process for my sled parts again.
The original paint held up fine for 12 years on my SRX, the new paint should hold up just as long.

I want to repaint my trailing arms and want them to look like oem. I'm planning to re-paint with yamaha original blue spray paint can I got from ColoRite a few years ago.
You guys think it will do a good job? I only have a clear coat in a can but I wasn't planing to use it.
I also want to remove the stickers and replace with new ones. Is it doable?

Remember to use a good primer, like the automotive self etching. Rustolem has it now in spray cans.

I sprayed mine in the Fall again.Sanded them down, cleaned them up,used spray rubber coating, primed them and used Rustoleom Paint ,clear coats and all good to go.Works for me cheap enough. This time around I just masked the decals to save on $$.I replaced them a few years back. Some pics..
