Picked up this 2000 SRX700 bout a month ago...i used to ride a 96 VMax600 when these things first came out and always wanted one. Found one locally for sale and decided to get back into the sport. She is in pretty sorry state but looks to be rebuildable. The rear skid is crap, both clutches need replacing, trailing arm bent, track is shot and the list goes on. As long as I have a decent motor to work with I'm happy. I know a guy that used to be a Yamaha tech so I might have him go through the motor this summer.
I plan to put a Nytro skid in it, long travel the Ohlins, Ripsaw 1.25, Viper seat and bumper and clean and paint almost the the whole sled. Not too worried about shaving topend off as I'd like to have a decent all around sled.
Currently has a MBRP can and sounds real good, would going to a stock can change the sound very much ?

Stock muffler will be very quiet in comparison and probably faster as well!I'm glad you saved it, honestly I don't like seeing sleds parted out unless there really trashed.
7400 kms....$2200...I know I paid too much considering it's shape but it was local so it saved me the traveling expense. I had no choice when I bought it cus as soon as I cracked the throttle I was taking it home.

Can you post picture of your clutches?
Your sled is in not bad shape as mentioned put a little money into it and you'll be a happy camper
I paid 1500 for 2000 SRX 2 yrs ago and never looked back very happy with the outcome will be puttin some money into bearings for skid and jackshaft this summer and motor possibly going to trail port it
If I can find another 2000 SRX this one will be dedicated racer

No pics as the sled is at my dad's place....the secondary has one of the shoulders behind one of the buttons broken off and the primary has alot of heat cracking....I'm thinking it's safer to go with some lower miles rebuilt clutches.
