This is off my daughters project viper. I did some research and the few posts i found with chips said not to use but they were much bigger than the chip i have. Though i would double check with you guys. My original plan was to run it, then i leaned to replacement. NOW I JUST DONT KNOW
So what do you guys think. Chris

I'm no expert by any means but if you have a chip missing even small as it is it would throw off the balance of that particular piece of the clutch. As long as there isn't a crack in the metal I suppose you could have the sliding sheave rebalanced and use it again but if you want total piece of mind just replace it.
Considering how many rpm's that thing spins at and the small piece missing from it I would not run it. Looks like a failure waiting to happen. IMO
Don't run that. You are missing up to several grams at one place!

Easy guys i would never even cosider putting my daughter in harms way. I just wanted to know if i could use the clutch or not. At the time before a ton of reading i didnt relize how balanced they were. Im not trying to be cheap, i have plenty of money. I just set myself a budget on this project. As always i will go over that for sure. the whole point of buying this fixer uper was to give us somthing we could do together. Safety and reliabilty are number one for sure. I just didnt realize at the time what i was getting into. But we are learning a ton and having fun. Thanks for the help guys, a new primary for sure. I need one of those $40 primary please. LOL chris
