I know this has been beat to death, but, does anyone have any real actual proof that they lose power? Mine just seems to be quicker without stock muffler. Am I crazy? I have had em all, Hauck,Bender and now a Power inc. Hauck sounds best, but haven't tried poswer inc. yet, Will put it out on the track soon.

I think the feeling that it is quicker is just a myth as being if it sounds faster it might be, but I think the can doesn't hurt performance it also doesn't make it any faster either

I run a Hauck growler can just because it sounds awesome, as for racing with one never made a differance for me

There was a member that did some kind of testing with stingers/cans years ago but I don't know if it was using dyno or what but the only one proven to not lose hp or hurt performance was the power inc one,the rest all lost hp.Now if you want to argue the weight savings vs the lose of a couple of hp you might be able to justify the addition of a can that way but if you have access to a power inc can that would be the one to use.

ADDED A POWER INC TO MY 2002 SRX WEEKEND SNOW LEFT. NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO TRY IT. WE WILL SEE NEXT YEAR. if that sled is slower, that can will be here for sale 3:16 (yammie tony)

Tony, what kinda distances ya test for?. mine will be 500ft. on timers. I really don't think in that short of a distance it'll matter. Bought it morefor ice drags as everybody bitches if they get beat by an old sled and the can is the first place they go, so we run the stock cans in the grass.

Same with all our local drags around here if people are losing too canned sleds they start pointing fingers at the cans right away

Yep, and I always go back to the point that they actually lose power with em, atleast thats what everyone says.....

You may sound faster but you will lose the tuned performance of the stock tuned can on a stock sled,,,,,, It may only be by 1-2 mph on top end,,,but quite speed will prevail.........

MY 2000 ICE/ GRASS WILL NEVER SEE ANYTHING BUT STOCK BOX. MY 2002 SRX IS MY TRAIL/LAKE/ FIELD RACER. THATS THE SLED WITH THE POWER inc can. NOW, HERE IS THING. THIS CAN WAS ON A 98 SRX THAT RAN 10.33 1/4 ON TAR @ 121. BOUGHT IT RIGHT OFF THE SLED. 3:16 (yammie tony)

His sled not yours.............We have to wait a year to find out? Run it now and let us know,, I'll bye ya a new set of hifax...... do it.......

I would like to see some dyno charts on the differences. Everybody says stock is more HP, but, Where is the HP losses at with the aftermarket can. Will a can outperform a stocker in midrange but lose out on top?? What i'm saying is a afm can might be better for a corner to corner trail sled ? I rarely run my sled topped out, mid-range is more important to me. This year I ran a stock, a bender, & a mbrp. I think the mbrp is better in midrange, just by the seat of the pants. I could be wrong though.

i myself find it kinda hard to believe that hauck, slp, or whoevers is better than oem. alot of r&d goes on at yamaha, much, much more than one of these smaller companies. where an aftermarket might gain something, it seems to always sacrifice something, reliablity or gas mileage. seems like these engines really rip in stock form, and stay reliable.

i have a bender and a mbrp i cannot tell the difference but ive never done any real testing because i made so many clutching adjustments the end of the season trying to learn how to tune clutches...

but i have been looking for a power inc can because of its design i think its closest to being a tuned exhaust and i believe if anything gains power it will be a power inc suitcase

i run the hauck growlers on my 02 srx and i cant tell the difference of anything (other then the sound :) ) it still pulls like a bat out of hell!! :yrules:

What did he run with a stock can TONY! ;)!

My knowledge comes more from tuning imports but Im willing to bet(could be wrong)that the stock can makes a much wider powerband than the aftermarket but that the aftermarket can makes maybe a couple more hp up top(alot of exhaust companies seem to try and create the most straight through design assuming its always the best way to go for top end, the problem is when you go for broke to make all your power up top you ussually lose it in the lower rpm's therefore the stock can would be faster being it has a much broader power curve)that being said triple stingers are prob not the best if you stay more in your midrange but I SERIOUSLY doubt a stock can makes more power up top than stingers. So like most things try to aviod just looking at peak power numbers thats a big mistake u have to look at the powerband as a whole. So whos gonna dyno test all this crap?lol
